The Evening:
Film and Panel Talk
What is life like for queer people seeking asylum and queer refugees?
This evening session saw the viewing of the award-winning film 'Flee.' This powerful animated film follows the story of a man under the alias Amin Nawabi, who shares his hidden past of fleeing his home country of Afghanistan to Denmark for the first time, discovering his queer identity along the journey. This film was followed by a panel discussion with former queer refugees, queer people seeking asylum, and their allies. Read more about our panel guests below and see pictures from the event.
Flee had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival in 2021, where it won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary section.
